Four years ago, when my wife and I built our first home, we were faced with many decisions concerning the various products that would be used in its construction. After consulting with our builder, family members, and a few friends, we decided to have a Burnham® boiler installed. We chose the Burnham® boiler based on its reputation for quality and performance

Soon after we moved into our new home we began having problems with our heating system. There were many sleepless nights where my wife and I lay awake in bed listening to gurgling pipes that knocked and banged all night long. Then there were the mornings where we awoke to a cold shower because the heat had robbed the hot water. Last but not least, there was the noisy power ventilator that would run long after the boiler had tuned off.

Over the past four years, we have had several so-called "heating professionals" into our home to evaluate our problems. One contractor bleeds the air out of the system only to have it return two weeks later. Another contractor installed new purge valves with no success. A third contractor recommended a larger alternate brand boiler because he felt the Burnham boiler we had installed was not large enough to meet our heating and hot water needs.

As you can imagine, our faith in Burnham® was lost until we met one of your Trade Council Members, Mr. Vinnie Bertrand, president of The HEATDOCTOR. We met Vinnie at a local home show where he was showcasing Burnham® boilers. After speaking with Vinnie and venting our frustrations, he set an appointment to meet with us at our home to conduct a system evaluation. Vinnie, unlike most contractors we have dealt with in the past, arrived at our home on time. Vinnie conducted a very thorough system evaluation, and he quickly discovered many errors made during the initial installation. After nearly a one-hour visit, Vinnie assured us that the Burnham boiler we purchased four years ago was more than adequate for our home and its substandard performance was directly related to a very poor installation.

Vinnie's recommendation consisted of a complete system redesign. He recommended the addition of an air eliminator and fresh air intake. He recommended re-piping the boiler with the proper diameter pipe. He recommended eliminating the zone valves and replacing them with circulators and he recommends the addition of a Burnham indirect water heater. Although we were overwhelmed at first, Vinnie assured us that we would experience a noticeable improvement in the performance and efficiency of our Burnham boiler.

Although our experience with other contractors was less than favorable, we felt very comfortable with our decision to hire Vinnie. Vinnie presented himself as a true "Burnham Professional." He started the work when planned. He was very courteous to my wife and daughter. He maintained a neat and clean work environment, but most importantly, he took great pride in the quality of his work. Our Burnham boiler is now a big, mean, heating machine! Our thanks goes to Vinnie for restoring our faith in the performance of our Burnham boiler. As a senior district manager for a major roof window and skylight manufacturer I recognize the importance of high quality work and exceptional customer service.
